Whew! That was a bit rough this week. I went to look for any new messages on our forum and what do I see but this SQL error. The SQL database had crashed. Yup, every message was lost, some of them for the better. The worst part about the entire ordeal was firing up the old private forum. Yuck! I tried not to post anything in there unless it was very necessary. I had nightmares that first night on the old gamers forum. It was horrible!
Thanks once again to RED! for getting the Invision Board based forum back on-line. We would still be on a gamers forum without your help in getting it rolling in the first place. It's a new version and it looks as if it solved our strange cookie problem. I have yet to be logged out by closing my browser. Yippie! I'm sure those of you who had the problem are happy campers once again.
April 20 marks the start date of the greatest run, North American Half-Life tournament: Perseverance of Triality 5. DoctorDank is once again hosting the tourney and this is his fifth year running. Last time around, we missed the final playoff spot by one point. Actually we tied in points with ssx, but lost in a wild card match to them. This year, we are entering two seperate teams, DADS1 and DADS2. With 16-18 active members, we had to do something to get more people playing.
With the new tournament starting up, DoctorDank opened up a more name friendly web site to host the weekly progression of the tourney. The site is called Tournament Gamer and will host several different game tournaments. Be sure to take note of the nifty logo on the new web site. It was made by yours truely. I will soon be releasing the 88x31 logo, perhaps it will be animated. Then I will touch up the present logo and make a few minor changes to it.
This month also saw the end of three tournaments that we were participating in. The DML completed it's play to the end with umL taking the title match over dPc. We made it into the playoffs and lost closely to RSI. The other two tournaments ended before the completion of their scheduled run. FragFest closed their doors as well as HLFL. Was a bummer to see them end, as they both offered a unique aspect to their tournament.
Finally, we've added some new faces to DADS. I have to check my list to make sure I get them all in:
